This is our backyard in Lake Clark National Park— full of life, amazing scenery, unnamed peaks, astounding beauty, colorful tundra, land dotted with lakes and criss-crossed by rivers. This true wilderness area allows our guests experience a world completely untouched and far away from the busy distractions of society. It gives them a glimpse back into years gone by, when things were quiet and simple and the days focused more on the physical tasks at hand. Forget the traffic and loud bothersome noises—out here it is the breeze through the trees rooted beside a bustling creek or the screech of an eagle soaring overhead.

Our backcountry trips  take you to our favorite locations in the region where you can fully experience exploration in the pristine Alaska bush. We can tailor a trip to include a longer multi-night trek or focus on shorter day hikes based from the lodge—just let us know your interests! Lake Clark is a hidden gem of the National Park system and you will be forever amazed by the pure Alaskan beauty, history, culture, and traditional pioneering lifestyle.

Lake Clark National Park

Located about 100 miles (160 km) southwest of Anchorage, Lake Clark National Park could be viewed as Alaska’s most diverse park.  The park includes a collection of features not found all together in any other Alaska Park including: the junction of three mountain ranges, a coastline with rain forests, high mountain plateaus with alpine tundra, glaciers, glacial lakes, major salmon-filled rivers, and two volcanoes.  Redoubt is one of these volcanoes and it remains active, with eruptions in 1989 and most recently in 2009.

The park is home virtually all major Alaskan animals, terrestrial and marine. This area is also a part of the the famed Bristol Bay watershed which means salmon, particularity sockeye salmon, play a major role in the ecosystem and the local economy.  This also means that the area is home to large populations of brown bears which feed on the spawning salmon and create great opportunities for bear viewing in the park.

Lake Clark National Park is a place of breathtaking beauty and wonder where the land remains untouched and wild. Visitors have limitless opportunities to explore the shimmering turquoise lakes and enjoy solitude around every bend in the river.  Come visit Lake Clark and venture into the heart of Alaska’s wilderness.
